I had the opportunity to do a guest lecture at UNSW today where I spoke about Security in Design and Development.

I’ve been doing this for a few years now and it’s something I look forward to each time. It’s always rewarding to share some of the lessons I’ve learned and hopefully help the next generation of developers and designers think about how to protect the systems they’ll be building.

My session happened around lunchtime, and when I finished, the campus was buzzing. Students were queuing up for food, sitting on the grass, chatting with friends, and there were tables everywhere with clubs and societies promoting themselves. Some even offering Krispy Kreme donuts to draw people in. It looked like a club open day, and it brought back so many memories of my own uni life.

There’s something about that atmosphere, the energy, the curiosity, the sense that anything is possible, that makes me feel both nostalgic and proud to be able to give back. It’s always a pleasure to be part of their journey and to be reminded of where mine began.
