In what is the worst hack in Australia corporate history, Medibank hackers release 1500 more sensitive records. The records are understood to be related to a range of diseases, including HIV, hepatitis and mental illness. This is on top of the more than 1200 records that were previous released. A number of those customers whose data had been released on the dark web had not been informed by Medibank of the breach. It is estimated that if 10% of affected customers join one of the many class actions and are paid for damages, the hack could ultimately cost Medibank $1 billion dollars in total cost.
