There’s been another cyber breach in Australia. This one affecting legal Aid ACT. Private information of socially and economically disadvantaged Australians would be publicly released following the company’s refusal to pay the ransomware demands. Many domestic violence victim-survivors who had sought help from Legal Aid ACT already fear that their perpetrators will track them down. Now, that risk has been heightened as their perpetrators may take advantaged of any released data. One victim-survivor had to move house and others had to upgrade their home security systems. Police have also been put on alert should those individuals need help in a crisis.
