Australian property giant, Meriton Suites has recently disclosed that it had suffered a significant data breach. The developer and construction company, known for its serviced apartments, has warned staff and guest that personal information may have been accessed by cybercriminals. The incident occurred on Saturday, 14th January 2023 and 35.6GB of data was exposed, affecting 1,889 people. Meriton believes the exposed data included financial, health and employment information of its staff and contact information of its guests. The company said that they had contacted the affected people to advice them of the breach and had alerted the Australian Cyber Security Centre and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
