The computer dispatch system for fire rescue in the Australian state of Victoria was shutdown in response to a potential cyber attack. This has resulted in the phone lines for the fire rescue being unavailable and firefighters switching to mobile phones and radio as the method for getting alerts to emergencies. Fire Rescue Victoria said that response times and community safety has not been impacted and this makeshift setup is likely to be in place for days while the investigation continues.
