The Queensland University of Technology has disclosed that it had suffered a cyberattack. The University had to shut down their IT systems in response and they expect some of those systems to be disrupted for some weeks. Students who are currently enrolled will be given the option to withdraw without financial or academic penalty as this disruption might be unacceptable to some. The royal ransomware gang has claimed responsibility and have released data they claim to represent 10% of what they had stolen. The data included HR files, email and letter communications, ID cards and documents, and financial and administrative documents.
